This is my new blog! I’m really excited about it and cannot wait to start putting up all of my reviews on there!!!
I will still be posting things on here too :)
So obviously reading is a major focus of my summer! As a college student, I don’t really have time to read for pleasure as much during the school year, and that is disappointing for me because I LOVE to read!
This summer I am going to read, read, read! Hence my Goodreads subscription, two book clubs and book reviews on here.
I have been researching some other book blogs and here are a couple that I am really excited to check out further:
My Friend Amy- TONS of book reviews on different subjects, even has an index of past reviews :) http://www.myfriendamysblog.com/
Maw Books Blog- I cannot believe how many book reviews are in this woman’s index. It’s crazy. I cannot wait to sit down and sift through them all!! http://blog.mawbooks.com/
Do you have any book blogs that you like? I am definitely open to finding more to follow!

Title: Under the Rose (Secret Society Girl #2)
Author: Diana Peterfreund
Time it took to read: 4 days
Rating: 5 out of 5
Clearly, I love the Secret Society Girl series. As soon as I get hooked into the books I just can’t put them down. I finished this at 3 in the morning!! There really isn’t too much else to say about it.
If you love secrets and have an inclination for characters with slight conspiracy paranoia who are determined to solve the problems that come up, then you will be interested in this series :)

Title: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Author: Douglas Adams
Time it took to read: 2 days
Rating 2 out of 5
So I am not the biggest Sci-fi fan. I read this book for one of my Goodread book clubs, and that’s why I read it. So many people say that this is such a classic read that everyone should read, but honestly I don’t see why anyone should read this book. Just so you know, I have seen the movie before reading this book. All I even remember from the movie is some weird guy with three arms. The movie is not worth it at all. The book is barely worth it more than the movie.
Maybe it is just the writer’s style, but they sound like an idiot. The whole book is pretty much pointlessly about the Earth being destroyed and how one man got off the Earth before it was destroyed and his bungling adventures. I don’t know, maybe the book series gets better, but I just really didn’t like the book much. It was so easy to finish because it took fewer brain cells to read than to work facebook.
If it’s your kind of thing, then fine, but it’s not mine.
So I FINALLY finished Under the Tuscan Sun on the 14th. This book took forever!!! The problem for me was my high expectations. I happen to love the movie, but the book is NOTHING like the movie. They took a few things from the book maybe, but other than that there is BARELY a resemblance. The thing I did actually really love about the movie was the description of the food and the recipes that are in the book. It was an okay book I guess. The descriptions of Italy are beautiful, so if that is what you are looking for than this is a great book for you. Just wasn’t my cup of tea.

This is the book that I mentioned earlier today! And I just finished it :)
Title: 7 Deadly Wonders
Author: Matthew Reilly
It is a suspense novel about putting together the pieces of the golden capstone that goes on the top of the Great Pyramid. A team goes around the world trying to get all of the pieces to save the earth from destruction or from other countries trying to rule the world with it.
There was a big tie-in with Ancient Egypt, which of course made me fall in love, especially mentioning more on Alexander the Great, and all of the different ancient wonders that the book goes through to find the different pieces is also very nice. There are cute little drawings in it that are supposed to be visual aids to help you understand the logistics of the places they go and the different booby traps that they go through, which in one way is nice and they other leaves less to the imagination of the reader (and is just lazy of the author!).
Though I did like the book overall and the theme and such, and the suspense was thrilling, all in all the book was just average. I think the part that really detracted for me was the writing style. I feel like the writing was just a little immature at times. I did really enjoy the book though, so it will be getting a “Really liked it” for that and if the writing had been better it might have possibly gotten an “It was amazing.”

Okay. So I read this book for one of my book clubs that I joined on GoodReads.com.
Title: Dead Until Dark
Author: Charlaine Harris
Now many people may or may not know about the show True Blood. This is the book series that the show is based off of. After laying that out in the open, it should be noted that this is a light-reading smut novel with supernatural tendencies. I’m sorry if that sounded harsh, but some people are harsh on the book reviewing it like it was the next greatest novel of our time. Please.
To make a long story short: Girl falls in love with vampire. He falls in love back. Other things get in the way. They are very sexual together. There’s a killer. She almost dies.
Now that synopsis is very short and definitely does not reveal some of the best surprises in the book, but it is pretty much the gist of the first book in the series.
I have to say, I really loved reading this book. I finished it in two days and I am dying to read the rest in the series! That saying it is still not one of the best books I have ever read, but I feel like it has just the right amount of everything in it to be a delightful, light, dirt-little-secret kind of read. It has all the makings to be a vice to go to again and again. (it even makes me actually want to watch the tv show, which the marketing for it DIDN’T haha)
